Dental implants
Dental implants are titanium screws inserted into the jawbone to support artificial teeth. Through a process called osseointegration, implants securely bond to bone, providing remarkable stability. Implants mimic natural teeth, offering a durable solution for tooth loss, and can replace one or several teeth by supporting single crowns, bridges, or complete dentures. Periodontists are the experts in the placement and upkeep of dental implants and the health of the surrounding tissues.
Gum graft
Gum grafts are surgical procedures to correct soft tissue defects (such as damaged or receded gums) and help promote long-term dental and implant health.
Periodontitis
Periodontitis is a bacterial-induced inflammatory disease that can occur at any age. It is a more severe form of gingivitis that, if left untreated, can lead to several complications. Symptoms may go unnoticed until the disease has progressed significantly. Treatment varies based on disease severity, among other factors, and includes both nonsurgical and surgical modalities. Periodontists may also use regenerative surgery to reverse the damage caused by the disease.
Crown lengthening
Crown lengthening is a common procedure that aims to reposition the gumline to reveal more tooth structure, elongating the tooth's visible part. This procedure may be necessary to facilitate your dentist's access to repair a fracture or cavity that would otherwise be inaccessible. It can also be used to improve the aesthetics of your smile.
Scaling and root planing
Scaling is a procedure that effectively removes all plaque and tartar deposits from the teeth. Root planing involves making the root surface smooth by removing irregularities that could trap more dental plaque. The two procedures are performed together and generally with local anesthesia. Typically, one of our highly qualified dental hygienists carries out this procedure for the treatment of periodontitis.
Bone grafting
Bone grafting is a safe and predictable procedure for correcting jaw deficiencies resulting from infections, injuries, or atrophy, thus allowing for the placement of dental implants. Depending on the severity of the deficiency, bone grafting can be performed simultaneously with implant placement or as a separate procedure. It is an effective solution to restore oral health and enhance quality of life.
Periodontal regeneration
In more severe cases of periodontitis, deep defects may remain adjacent to the teeth. We use the most advanced techniques available to regenerate and restore damaged tissue. Thanks to these sophisticated procedures, we can reverse some of the damage caused by periodontitis and preserve teeth.
